For this 3D text I first created the letters and images on separate layers using illustrator. I chose a simple word an chose to do simple illustrations of this word 'banana'. I then imported the layers in to after effects.
To create to movement I first had to ensure that the anchor point were exactly where I wanted them. Once I had done that I selected the 3D transform options and used the X and Y rotation. For the background created a new layer by selecting 'layer' then 'new' the 'solid' I chose to use the colour yellow which complements the black text and the word as banana are yellow. On some layers I 'dropped shadow' this gives the illusion of an actual 3D look. I also added a texture which complement the whole thing.
